Are commas inside quotes supported?
Yes. A quoted field may contain delimiters or line breaks. Two double quotes inside a quoted field become one literal quote. Unclosed or invalid quoted fields are rejected rather than silently truncated.

Convert CSV to JSON when a flat export needs to become a list of named records. Paste text directly or select a UTF-8 CSV file, then use the first row as the JSON keys. Unlike splitting each line on commas, this converter reads quoted fields, escaped double quotes, and line breaks inside quoted values. Your CSV text stays in browser memory rather than being uploaded for conversion.
A customer export may use semicolons while a log extract uses tabs. Choose a delimiter explicitly when you know the source format, or try automatic detection for comma, semicolon, tab, and pipe. Automatic detection uses the consistency and width of parsed rows; it is a convenience, not a guarantee for ambiguous single-column files. Review the preview before using the result in an import or script. A UTF-8 byte-order mark at the start is removed so it does not silently become part of the first property name.
Ready. Input stays in your browser. Limit: 20 MB per file or pasted input.
CSV input:
name,quantity,note
Pencil,12,"blue, soft"
JSON with inference:
[
{"name": "Pencil", "quantity": 12, "note": "blue, soft"}
]The first row supplies trimmed keys. Empty header cells receive column_N names; duplicates are suffixed to keep every field. Short rows are padded with empty strings, and extra fields receive generated keys. A final line ending does not create an extra record. Interior empty lines are retained. Inference can remove leading zeros from numeric-looking strings, so leave it off for IDs.
Inputs are limited to 20 MB each, matching WorkbookDiff’s file-validation limit. Large files can expand substantially in memory; use smaller inputs if your browser slows down. Excel output must fit worksheet row and column limits. Formatting, formulas, and charts may not be preserved: these tools write values, not a full-fidelity workbook copy.

Yes. A quoted field may contain delimiters or line breaks. Two double quotes inside a quoted field become one literal quote. Unclosed or invalid quoted fields are rejected rather than silently truncated.
Comma, semicolon, tab, and pipe are supported, with automatic detection or an explicit choice. Files are read as UTF-8, including an optional leading BOM. Convert other encodings to UTF-8 before using this tool.
No. Empty fields remain empty strings and dates remain text. Inference converts finite numeric text and case-insensitive true/false text. Keep strings to preserve leading-zero identifiers.
CSV is processed locally in your browser, with a 20 MB limit for either file input or pasted UTF-8 text. Large inputs can use much more memory than their file size. There is no server upload.
